This recipe was a team effort with Gip Dammone of Salvo’s Pizzeria in Leeds (one of the UK’s top 5 pizzerias). Gip asked us to help him perfect a gluten-free, wheat-free pizza. The result tastes ‘just like mama used to make’.
To make 4 thin-crust pizza bases you’ll need:
300g of Isabel’s Pizza Base Mix (2 sachets)
200ml of cow’s or soya milk
3 Tbsp olive oil
1 large free-range egg, lightly whisked.
To make the bases vegan you’ll need:
300g of Isabel’s Pizza Base Mix (2 sachets)
200g of mashed potato or sweet potato or squash
1½ tsp of baking powder to the mix instead of the egg
300ml soya or almond milk
3 Tbsp olive oil.
Add herbs such as oregano or finely chopped wild garlic to the flour mix
for more flavour, optional, but nice.
Also Makes: flat breads, pierogi and wraps.

Mrs E. Moorby –
My husband has recently been diagnosed as coeliac and was disappointed at the bland pizza bases available. Your pizza mix is easy to make and is delicious – I now enjoy them with him and no longer buy separate pizzas for myself. Also, the dough balls are easy and delicious.
Mrs A. Wray –
Having bought the Brazilian cheese breads and pizza bases to cater for my own gluten free diet, I now find that the whole family is devouring them with gusto. The cheese breads are really delicious made with Emmental cheese and make a great accompaniment to any meal. The pizza bases are really quick and easy to prepare and have a wonderful springy texture that is hard to find in gluten free food. Just add your favourite toppings for a real treat. Thanks for providing a delicious new alternative in my gluten free diet.
Mrs B. Walker –
I’ve tried many different gluten free pizza mixes, and made my own pizza dough from gluten free flours, but nothing has come close to Isabel’s pizza base mix. Fabulous, the best we’ve had. And we live in Italy!
Vic Edy –

Susan Parmenter –
My teenage coeliac has tried many GF pizzas/pizza mixes, none of them beat Isabels !! Even when they changed the recipe it is still delicious for the whole family, non coeliacs included. Never stop selling it !!!
Matt –
These are simply life savers and I can’t thank you guys enough. Pizza Sunday is now a firm staple in our household.
Rebecca Smith –
Lovely base and easy to make, only set back is it’s a very fragile dough and easily cracks when rolling. Dont forget (or cut corners) to prebake like I did on the first pizza base…you’ll end up with a doughy base that absorbs any cheese fat. Other than that lovely crispy thin base
Gilly –
Very good
